Travelling south from Greymouth visit local glass blowers and greenstone
carvers. Watch as their crafts take form. Visit some of New Zealand's
most beautiful lakes and pass through goldmining towns and luxuriant Podocarp
forests. The tour gives an insight into the rugged life in South Westland
and a people shaped by isolation and a harsh environment. After lunch
travel up the magnificent Franz Josef Glacier valley to view brilliant
glacial ice and the snow capped peaks. Moving further south to Fox Glacier
walk beneath the green mantle of rainforest into Lake Matheson with breathtaking
views of Mt Cook and the Southern Alps. Perfect for mirror lake photograph
opportunities. Visit the mighty Fox Glacier at close range.

your tour takes you to view the majestic Franz Josef Glacier surrounded
